What is Chinese herbal medicine?

Chinese herbal medicine (CHM) is part of holistic system of medicine known as traditional Chinese medicine, which includes other branches such at acupuncture. It has an uninterrupted history of development in Asia dating back 5000 years. In it modern form, CHM involved the use of Chinese herbs in form of – raw herbal form, powder granules, pills and tablets – to the treat a diverse range of chronic and acute conditions.

How is Chinese herbal medicine prescribed?

A Chinese herbal medicine formula is prescribed according to the individual ‘syndrome’ (symptom picture) uniquely presented by the diseased patient. As the patient’s condition changes and improves, CHM formula is modified to reflect the patient’s condition.
